Position Description

This position is based in Dallas, TX, and this person must be in DFW and able to come into the Dallas office as required.  AspireHR is looking for a highly committed, technically sound and organized individual with strong analytical skills and successful track record of leading finance and accounting functions to help build an exceptional foundation for Aspire HR’s growth strategy.  The successful candidate is a highly motivated individual who can work through ambiguity, think broadly while paying attention to financial and operational details, proactively solve problems, develop / drive process excellence, maintain tight controls environment, and flourish in a dynamic / entrepreneurial environment. The controller shall maintain and evolve a critical control environment that ensures the sales to cash cycle is operating efficiently and accurately.  The candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in accounting fundamentals, planning and forecasting, modeling and analytics, operational controls, ability to influence and advise others, successful execution of change management initiatives, and a keen understanding of how to drive results.  The role also encompasses a broad scope of operational support including support to sales, delivery, managed services, and product development on an ad hoc basis.  Lastly, AspireHR is seeking a strong leader with an ownership mentality and can both think / act strategically but is also very hands on in the details.

 

Key Responsibilities

The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer, and the key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage key financial processes and systems, including: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, Cash Flows, etc. in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures.
  • Builds and oversees process integration between each key department and financial tracking of actual performance / forecasting Ensures key inputs into financial processes are governed through an appropriate controls environment including key interfaces with each department (projects, managed services, products, and cost centers)
  • Designs operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency and ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting, planning, and operational data – inclusive of CRM, project delivery, and financial systems.
  • Prepares insightful ongoing financial and operational reports as compared to prior year, budget, forecast including variance analysis and integration of operational metrics
  • Manages the annual planning / budgeting process as well as ongoing forecast updates
  • Assists with treasury functions including cash / liquidity management, banking relationships, and credit card programs
  • Assists with review of financial systems / processes and designs improvement initiatives to increase efficiency of the finance and accounting functions
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with ongoing GAAP policies including new accounting standards or changes in law
  • Manages external consultants (such as tax or auditors) to drive annual audits / tax returns or provide required information (e.g. valuation support) and ensure proper record keeping for historical purposes
  • Owns additional support responsibilities including payroll, onboarding, and recruiting (as needed)
  • Supports ad hoc requests from sales, project delivery, managed services, and products

 

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance required
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA highly preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • 5+ years accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare & present financial reports, statements and projections
