GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The Business Associate III performs a variety of professional accounting duties associated with the classifying, recording, and reporting of Open Spaces funds, in addition to administrative responsibilities to support the operations of the Open Spaces department. Supports Open Spaces staff, Fair and Events staff, and CSU Extension.
DUTIES:
- Sorts, routes and codes invoices, and directs invoices to correct staff for approval. Responsible for processing approved EnergyCap invoices through SAP for payment.
- Creates purchase requisitions and purchase orders as requested in accordance with County’s Purchasing Guidelines.
- Enters purchase orders, invoices, receipts, and journal entries into the County’s accounting software system (SAP).
- Serves as point of contact for payment-related vendor questions.
- Serves as Payroll Administrator for the department, which includes monitoring bi-weekly payroll entries and communicating with managerial staff to ensure correct information has been submitted in the SAP timekeeping system and processed in a timely manner. Investigates errors in the time recording system and elevates problems to appropriate channels. Acts as the point of contact for staff questions.
- Routing contracts for approval and inputting contracts and related documents into the County’s contract management system.
- Manages staff cell phone accounts.
- Assists staff with travel arrangements and reimbursement of travel expenses.
REQUIREMENTS:
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, basic budget and accounts payable practices. Experience working in SAP is a plus.
- Organizes and prioritizes work activities so that work is completed thoroughly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers, elected officials, department heads, supervisors, vendors, and the general public.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 2+ years progressively responsible administrative, office, financial, and general accounting experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfies the requirements of the job may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Knowledge of basic accounts payable practices.
- Must have excellent computer and typing skills.

Must successfully pass pre-employment testing, which may include an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) check and background check.

- Position may require working evenings and weekends on occasion.
- Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business need.
- Possession of a valid Class “R†Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
- Certified notary or ability to get certified within three months of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is generally confined to a standard office environment. However, position does require sun exposure and walking on uneven ground when setting up for, participating in, and breaking down set-up for special events that occur typically in an outdoor environment.
- Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May be required to work additional hours as business needs dictate. Start and/or end time may vary as business needs dictate.
